House of the Big Wheel Part 2: Hei Hei and King Kahuna

Kona’s House of the Big Wheel is built around the four big bike stories of our 2012 29-inch wheel mountain bike program. On one axis we present the Japanese-inspired Honzo and Satori: the Honzo a gravity/all-mountain Kona Cromoly hardtail, the Satori a 130mm technical singletrack trail slayer (see HOBW – Episode 1). On the other axis, we celebrate the Hawaiian heritage of the Hei Hei 29, our legendary 100mm XC competition destroyer, balanced with the all-new race royalty, the carbon fiber King Kahuna hardtail. Episode 2 premieres right here right now, as we introduce the King Kahuna/Hei Hei Supreme edit. Filmed on the IMBA epic Seven Summits trail near Rossland, BC, this piece features two of Team Kona’s XC pro riders, Spencer Paxson and Barry Wicks railing 50 kilometers of high alpine singletrack bliss.

Replacing PowerTap Batteries

Replacing PowerTap Batteries

As the outdoor riding season begins to come to ramp up, it is a good time to think about replacing the batteries in your PowerTap. Batteries in the PowerTap hub and CPU need to be changed periodically to ensure reliable consistent functioning of the PowerTap system. The CPU will display a "low bat" warning on the screen to indicate that new batteries are necessary, and the transmission icon on upper left of CPU will be empty or will flashing when it is time to change the batteries in your hub.
